YOUTH SPORTS

When you think of youth sports, chances are things like football, soccer, and basketball come to mind. But did you know that, at the Y, we teach a lot more than how to score a touchdown or make a layup?  Y sports are the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.

And the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it is gaining confidence or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.

Here are the youth sports programs we offer:

Basketball
The game that was invented at the Y still feels right at home here. Every year, we help hundreds of sharpshooters ages 4 and up find their range. From Mitey Mites to 3rd & 4th grade Girls, our basketball program teaches that the game is about more than the winning shot. It’s about teamwork and the good sportsmanship.

Flag Football
It’s the fun of football without the pads. Throw your first spiral, haul in the deep bomb, or pick one off and take it for six. This league, open to grades 4K-2, offers a fun and noncompetitive atmosphere where sportsmanship is more important than the final score.

Soccer
Learn to use your head, (and your chest, and your feet, and…).  Y soccer lets kids, ages 4K to Grade 6, learn to dribble, pass, and score in a fun, noncompetitive environment.

Junior Volleyball
If your child is in grades 3-8, they can learn to serve, bump, set and volley with their team as they go through drills, lessons, and games. Most important, your young athlete will learn the virtues of caring, respect, and responsibility.

And there's more
