HEALTHY WELL BEING & FITNESS

The YMCA has offered health and fitness programs for people of all ages, incomes, and abilities for many years. The focus is on overall wellness, empowering you to tailor your own plan for healthier living by choosing how you will accomplish your wellness goals. The whole approach means you have many options and lots of support as you choose your path to a healthier new you!

Because we know that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing mind, body & spirit, well-being and fitness at the Y include more than just working out. In addition to our fitness classes and facilities, we provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions and offer a variety of programs that support physical, intellectual, and spiritual strength.

HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMS
SPECIALTY CLASSES:

The following specialty classes are available for an extra fee. Classes are currently available for Superior Y Members Only.

REVOLUTION:
Revolution is a 30 min cycling program tailor-made for anyone who can ride a bike. Ride over hills, sprint in the flats, and do interval training. Come and try this quick, convenient, fast-paced small group class. Registration coming soon!

WOMEN'S STRENGTH:
Women’s Strength is our small group strength training class. Get more confident with free weights, the Matrix system, mobility, core stability, posture, and functional training. Your Instructor and Personal Trainer Andy will help you customize your workout to get the strength results you are looking for. The next class begins in November. Register now! MORE INFO

KETTLETONE:
This intense circuit class revolves around the use of Russian kettlebells. Designed to target every muscle group in the body, Kettletone will teach you new skills and functional movement patterns while also increasing your cardiovascular capacity and muscle strength. Grow your knowledge and challenge your body in this fun class! Next Session: TBD

SUPERIOR TOTS FITNESS:
Fitness for everyone! Instructors Jill & Ashlee will introduce your kids to fitness through a fun, high-energy group class you’ll both love. Parents/guardians can attend and work out with their child ages 2-6+ in this new class! Have fun with circuit training and games, develop skills to increase strength, balance and cardio capacity through the art of play. Next Session: TBD

YOUTH FITNESS:
Our youth fitness class includes fun intervals to keep your child moving for 20+ minutes followed by 20+ minutes of Sport-related exercises followed by relaxing youth stretching.  Registration required. Bring your own water bottle. Next Session: TBD

What’s your thing? We have Yoga, Boot Camp, Zumba, Steps and more. Taught by certified instructors, our Group Exercise classes are a great way to shake things up in your routine, as well as push yourself to new limits. Fitness Classes are FREE and currently available to Superior YMCA Members only. Reservations required to attend Fitness Classes. 

NEW! HIT & RUN SELF-DEFENSE:
Join Matt and Jen for our NEW LOOK to self defense. With Martial Arts drills, proper body mechanics for self protection and ways to teach you to be more aware of your surroundings, HIT & RUN will prepare you for the basics in self defense. Our Level 1 class will break down movements and techniques to keep you safe. This class will give you the confidence to HIT & RUN! FREE Demo classes in September. Superior Y Members only. MINDFUL MEDITATION:
Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal growth. Meditation benefits people with or without acute medical illness or stress. People who meditate regularly have been shown to feel less anxiety and depression. They also report that they experience more enjoyment and appreciation of life and that their relationships with others are improved. Meditation produces a state of deep relaxation and a sense of balance. Mindful Meditation is a 30 min guided meditation class that will help you carve out the time needed for you own wellbeing and self-care. Let’s bring balance to our busy lives.

FULL BODY MOBILITY:
Address your physical roadblocks with head to toe stretching and conditioning exercises. This class will be aimed towards better postural alignment to reduce pain and increase performance. Great for those looking to develop the necessary strength and body mechanics for higher intensity classes. Low to moderate pace and difficulty.

GLOW CARDIO DRUMMING:
Cardio Drumming is a combination of cardio and strength training class that includes high-intensity exercises and rhythmic techniques to give you a full-body workout. Cardio drumming uses a bench, mat and a set of drum sticks to deliver you an extreme calorie burn! Come try this new style of fitness with blacklight!

GLOW MINI TRAMPOLINE:
How long has it been since you jumped on a trampoline? Let me guess, its been too long! Come try this 30 min express cardio class, with easy to follow choreography and motivating music. This will be a great addition to any workout routine. 

RIP:
RIP is a strength training program for men and women of all ages and ability levels. RIP is a full body endurance strength training class that attacks every muscle group in our bodies. RIP is a pre-choreographed class with new music and new exercise every 6-8 weeks. RIP is guaranteed to keep your workout fun and new, plus achieve the results you have always wanted.

MUSCLE PUMP:
This group is designed to work all major muscle groups with weight-plates, dumbbells, bands, body weight and/or stability balls. Have fun with weights in interval timing and rep challenges.

HIIT IT:
“High-Intensity Interval Training” is a challenging interval circuit workout with groups. HIIT uses weighted balls, jump ropes, hand weights, step boards among other equipment to challenge your body and keep you guessing throughout the entire class. You will never get bored with this fast-paced cardio strength class. All fitness levels welcome.

POWER STEP:
Power Step is a pre-choreographed step program designed to push your cardio to its limits. Power Step works your body in all planes of motion, both on the step and on the floor. Power Step will strengthen your heart, increase bone density, and improve your coordination with “Top Hits” music. All fitness levels welcome.

BUILD & BURN:
Build & Burn combines a variety of training methods to achieve both cardiovascular and strength goals. You will build muscle in this class while also burning major calories! 

BOOT CAMP:
Feel invigorated with fun and challenging running exercises, drills, circuits, rep challenges, intervals, and more. Boot Camp delivers a workout based around endurance and is a great training option for runners, triathlon athletes as well as anyone looking for a great workout. All levels welcome.

CARDIO BURNOUT:
Cardio Burnout gives you a little taste of everything! This fast-paced cardio class may include Cardio Kickboxing, Interval Training, Boot Camp, Step, and more!  

TRANSFORM:
Transform unites yoga & sport like never before. Transform is a mind/body experience that features traditional yoga poses and sport influenced movement to strengthen and tone your whole body. All fitness levels welcome.

MAT PILATES:
Mat Pilates is a beginner/intermediate class where you will learn the basics, fundamentals, and proper techniques of Pilates. Mat Pilates focuses on body connections, breathing, alignment, and awareness. This class is great for newcomers to Pilates and for those who want to refine their knowledge, understanding, and ability.

YOGA FLOW:
A fitness-based approach where participants will focus on linking conscious breath with a vigorous and mindful flow. You will build strength, flexibility, and concentration while cleansing the body and calming the mind.

GENTLE YOGA:
Gentle Yoga is a class structured around rejuvenating and healing the body. This class is held at a slower pace and focuses on stretching all areas of the body while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles.

RESTORATIVE YOGA:
This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tension from the body and mind. We use props to support the postures, while gently stretching and strengthening the body.

ZUMBA©:
Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic Latin music. The choreography incorporates “Hip Hop”, “Samba”, “Salsa”, and “Mambo” inspired dance moves. Guaranteed to get you sweating with this fun dance-inspired cardio class. All fitness levels welcome.

TAI CHI:
Tai Chi is a class where fundamental martial arts movements are done slowly and deliberately with emphasis on balance and control. Tai Chi helps promote strength and resilience in the legs as well as flexibility, balance and general health.

FITNESS CENTER TRAINING

Meet with a Fitness Coach for an hour to learn how to use the Fitness Room in a way that will help you to achieve your fitness goals. Discuss with the coach any health or orthopedic concerns you may have. This training is FREE and highly recommended for new members. FITNESS CENTER REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUTH

Ages 10-11: MUST be WITH a parent/guardian (within arms reach) and MUST have gone through a Fitness Center Orientation WITH their parent/guardian.

Ages12-15: May make one Fitness Center Reservation per day on their own. Must go through a Fitness Center orientation WITH a parent/guardian.
