Shooting Stars

A Preschool Experience for 3-4-year-olds.

Shooting Stars integrates the YMCA facilities with a traditional preschool experience. Shooting Stars if offered Monday/ Wednesday and/or Tuesday/ Thursday and runs from 9:00am - 11:30am each day during the school year. Each two day session includes one swim time. Children must be potty trained. Children will have an opportunity to develop an increased ability to think, reason, question, and experiment. They learn how to follow directions and make choices in an environment filled with language and enrichment opportunities.

Our Curriculum

Our cirriculum is a blend of teacher directed and individual learning experiences. Traditional preschool education includes concepts, colors, number and letter recognition. Other activities include circle time, stories, center time, music, science, art, and daily gym time for large motor development. The cirriculum is planned to promote fun and learning for your child, as we strive to support the needs and desires of the families in our program.

Our Goals
  • Promote a safe, warm, comfortable environment in which each child can build strong, positive relationships with adults and children alike.
  • To understand each child's needs and maintain open communication with parents/ caregivers to strengthen the family unit.
  • To model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • To encourage individual development of self-esteem and confidence.
